What is The Tu Tika Tour?

The Tu Tika Tour is a 1.5‑hour Māori cultural connection guided by your host, Rangimarie. You’ll experience a welcome, hongi, waiata, storytelling, korari weaving, and a guided visit to the majestical Ōtuihau Whangārei Falls. Authentic. Intimate. Unforgettable.

All prices include GST, excl booking fee

The experience takes place in Whangārei, Northland. You’ll meet at a central location (you choose your best time and location when booking) and journey together to Ōtuihau Whangārei Falls.

The Tu Tika Tour operates twice daily, 10am and 1pm Monday to Saturday. 

10am – Pick up and drop off from the Whangarei Town Basin (behind Clapham Clocks)

1pm – Pick up and drop off from the I-site visitor centre, 92 Otaika Rd (by front entrance)

The experience is 1.5 hours.

Ae – yes, there is parking at both locations.

Town Basin is mostly paid parking for up 2 hours.  (10am Tour)

I-site visitor centre parking is free and easily accessible for camper vans and larger vehicles. (1pm Tour)

Āe – Yes, absolutely. Children are welcome and often love learning the Māori song, getting hands-on learning with the weaving activity and enjoying the majestical Otuihau.

Yes, the private tour option is for our whānau -families that have infants up to 3 years. (Please bring their capsules/seats with you)

The tour is intentionally intimate. We host 1–11 guests per tour to ensure personal connection and meaningful kōrero.

Comfortable clothing and walking shoes. We visit Ōtuihau Whangārei Falls, so expect a short walk and natural surroundings.

The weaving and storytelling portions are accessible. Ōtuihau has a well‑formed path at the top. Please let us know your needs when booking — we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Rain doesn’t stop us – it’s part of the Aotearoa experience. Bring a jacket and we’ve got the umbrellas.  If the weather becomes unsafe, we will reschedule or offer a refund.

Yes. Private tours for up to 11 guests are available for $749. Perfect for whānau-family groups, corporate teams, and education groups.

Bookings can be made online through our secure booking system.

  • Within 48hrs of booked tour: No refund
  • Up to 5 days before booked tour: 50% refund
  • More than 5 days before booked tour: Full refund

Ae – Yes.  We simply ask that you respect our tikanga, and not use any devices during your whakatau – welcome.

Kāo – No, this is not a show. It’s a relationship based cultural connection shared with warmth, humour, and heart.

Absolutely, we can arrange a private group pick up anywhere in the Whangarei City area.
