This is your chance to enjoy the stories and legends from tangata whenua – the people of the land, no matter where you are in the world. All you need is an internet connection!
Deepen your knowledge and connection with the culture, land, history and people of Aotearoa, New Zealand with an incredible virtual Māori cultural tour presented by your local guide, Mervyn Harding from Tu Tika Tours and Transfers.
You’ll soon find out that the stories of the Māori have more drama, romance and adventure than any day-time soap series could ever dream up. Merv is an incredible storyteller. In this virtual tour, he will introduce you to a range of Māori customs, traditions, crafts, taonga (treasures) and musical instruments and explain how it’s all still relevant and valued today.
NZ Māori are spiritual people that have a strong connection to everything within their environment. Merv’s whanau home is in Whangārei, Northland, also known as the gathering place of the whales and the meeting place of the chiefs.
In small groups of up to 8 people, you will learn Māori words and greetings and get to practise how to pronounce them correctly. When Merv speaks in te reo Māori, he will explain everything in English so nothing gets missed. Best of all, you can ask any questions you may have.
This NZ virtual tour is live, unpredictable, intimate, informative and hugely entertaining. It’s an experience to remember for anyone who is curious about Māori people, history, stories and traditions. At the heart of Tu Tika Tours and Transfers is whānau – family and you are warmly welcomed to join in.
